Nail Polish Comparisons!

Hi! I'm back. I'll jump right into things by saying that I don't have many different nail polishes that are basically the same color. There is the occasional polish that starts to get old and causes me to buy the same color from a different brand, but it's rare. I don't usually paint my nails pink, in fact the only time I like my nails pink is when it's a light, baby pink. I'm not big on hot pink nails. I used to be, maybe that's why I'm not anymore. I probably wore it out on my own nails, haha. Anyway, my go-to light pink polish that I've always used is Wet N' Wild's "Flirty Rose Creme." I've had it for a long, long time and it's formula is starting to get goopy on me. You all know what I mean; a polish that's been sitting in your collection for some time doesn't quite apply the same way that it used to, not as smooth as it once did. When OPI came out with their Nicki Minaj collection, "Pink Friday" always really caught my eye. A creamy, light pink polish that looked like it would go on opaque with a couple of coats. That's the trouble with most baby pink polishes, I find, they're always too sheer for me. I wouldn't have a problem wearing a sheer baby pink nail, but in this particular case, that's not what I was looking for. So, I bought Pink Friday the other day, and what do I find when I get home and compare polishes?

They're basically the same color. The Wet n Wild polish is slightly warmer, and a bit peachier than Pink Friday, but it's hardly noticeable unless you're looking for it. Boy was I pleased! ^_^

Excuse my makeshift photo studio. It's just about midnight here so I don't have many lighting options. They look equally as similar in the bottles.

Since I was comparing these anyway, I decided to go ahead and compare a few other similar polishes that I have lying around. Keep in mind that the following polishes aren't dupes, they're just comparisons.

I was on the hunt (and still kind of am) for a pale lilac nail polish that doesn't appear too...neon? I don't know if that's the word I want to use but I'm going to use it anyway. There are so many lilac polishes (among other colors) that appear pastel and soft in the bottle and immediately on the nail, but when viewed in sunlight, they get really deep and bright. I know sometimes that can't be helped, but hey, I got a few good purple polishes out of the search anyway.

Confetti's "Belle of the Ball" (left) is pretty dark compared to Lacey Lilac, but they are so cute together if you alternate finger nails!

Next up are Essie's "Turquoise and Caicos," China Glaze's "For Audrey," and OPI's "Mermaid's Tears" from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. Can you tell I like turquoise colors?

While these are all quite similar on your actual nails, I'm glad I got to compare them all side by side, because a lot of the time I'll wear one and think to myself, you know, this is a lot like (insert one of said polishes). Turquoise and Caicos is really a true turquoise and probably the best (out of these three) for Spring. For Audrey is, tried and true, a favorite of a lot of people out there. It's similar to the others in certain light, but sometimes it appears to be more of a Tiffany blue. Mermaid's Tears has more of an earthy tone to it. I really love all of these polishes because they all remind me of the ocean, but I think Mermaid's Tears does the most (and not just because of the collection it's from)!

The last polishes I have to show you could actually stand to be dupes for each other.

I don't understand why I always go to the drugstore and pick up this shade. I got the Wet N Wild one for Christmas so that one's not my fault (and it just turns out to be my favorite of the four). I think I got the NYC one as a gift too but I'm not sure so I won't claim to have. These are all extremely similar.

The only one that, if I had to choose, doesn't fit with the bunch, is the Wet N Wild on the far right. You might not be able to tell in the photos because my lighting is funky, but it's actually really more green based, while the rest are more blue/teal based. I just want to make that clear because this picture can be kind of deceiving, it's hard to tell without seeing it in person. I recommend looking up pictures of each polish so you can get lots of results in all kinds of different lighting (if you're interested). The closest ones (close enough to be dupes) are the NYC #241 and the Confetti "Tahitian Turquoise."
